July 2017 Reads

There may be some spoilers here….

The Sexy OneThe Sexy One by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I like this one a little more than The Hot One but there was one scene that bugged me a little bit. Toward the end when Abby answered Simon’s door naked it really bothered me. Yes, she never dreamed it would be his ex wife and daughter but it seriously could have been anyone. I know he’d sent her a text saying he would be there in five minutes but it could have very easily been anyone else. A delivery person, even. Come on Abby!

The Hot OneThe Hot One by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I went back and forth between rating this one 2 stars and 2.5 stars. I didn’t love it as much as I have the other Lauren Blakely books I’ve read. I just couldn’t connect with the characters and while I love a second chance story this one didn’t really touch me the way they usually do. I felt like Tyler’s excuse for his past behavior was not as believable as I would have liked.

Dating You / Hating YouDating You / Hating You by Christina Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not surprisingly I loved it. I laughed, I got misty eyed, I enjoyed it thoroughly. A love/hate relationship is one of my favorite tropes in a romance. CLo most definitely know how to tell a great story. I’ve read mention of this one not being as racy as some of their other books and while there weren’t as many sex scenes as previous stories, that didn’t matter to me. DYHY was plenty sexy and fun. Carter was delicious and I enjoyed Evie’s sass. I also really enjoyed the supporting cast and while I know this is a stand alone I’d love to see these characters appear in something else. Super cute read!

I tried to love this but I just couldn’t get into any of the short stories.

The Knocked up PlanThe Knocked up Plan by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As much as I’m not interested in having kids of my own I love a book about babies. Lauren Blakey knocked this one out of the park, as per usual.
