There’s not much I like more than traveling, especially for enjoyment and not for work. There are still so many places I’d love to see but I have been very lucky with my travels. This time I’m off to Hawaii, via Los Angeles and a Carnival Cruise ship called “Miracle”. This is my fourth…maybe fifth cruise, but the longest I’ve been on so far. Let me tell you, 14 days on a ship is a long time and I wasn’t so sure about this, but my mother really wanted me to go with. Anyway…
We flew from Huntsville, to Atlanta, to Los Angeles (my first time there as well) a couple of days before our cruise, so we could explore. I have to admit, I am not in love with LA. Maybe that was because of what we did and didn’t do there but…It was too much for me, which is hilarious because when I went to NYC last month, I loved it.
Our first full day in LA we went to check out Grauman’s, because I just had to do so!
I took so many photos of hand and footprints but I was fascinated by it all. After we walked around there we walked down to Madame Tussaud’s where I did not find all of *NSYNC but I found JT and a few other familiar faces. Then we ate dinner at Hard Rock, which makes us so ridiculously touristy. I wish we’d gone to somewhere more original but we couldn’t really wrap our brains around where to go. I should have done some research on the area our hotel was located.
Our ship departed from Long Beach and since we are Gold level members (from multiple cruises) we were able to board the ship and enter our suite faster than other guests. It’s definitely a nice perk because my mother and I were just ready to stop dealing with our carry-ons. The buffets are open as soon as you get on the ship so we had a random lunch of chicken tenders and tortilla chips with cheese dip.
The first four days on the ship are just sailing. Just. Sailing. Across the Pacific, which is not smooth sailing, let me tell you! The first full night on the ship was what some refer to Captain’s Night, also known as Cruise Elegant. Since our cruise is so long we know we have two “dress up nights” as my mama calls them. I had a very specific dress in mind and finally found not one, but two, dresses via Chi Chi Clothing. I went with silver accents and wore the same heels and used the same evening bag for both.
So here’s a question, have you been on a cruise? Or to Hawaii? Hawaii has always been my mothers dream trip and she felt like flying five hours over the ocean would be too much for her and decided a ship was the way to go. I most definitely would have rather flown and stayed at a resort. But this was her dream trip. Maybe once we’ve been to all of our ports we can decide on a place we love and fly back one day!
